Was hast du so getrieben.

Right?

Also ja!

Was sind deine Lieblingssongs.

Was als nächstes kommt?

So etwas macht mich unglaublich stolz.

Ist da was in Planung?

English Version:

DarkScene: We haven´t heard anything from you since you left TAD MOROSE. How did Inmoria come to life and what have you been doing musically in the meantime?

Dan Eriksson: Yes, that is right, I´ve basically kept my ass away from the musicscene for a long time because I was so fed up with playing, writing and rehearsing and whatever. Then, after a couple of years I started to work as a drumtechnician for several bands and I toured for about eight years when suddenly I quit and got a regular boring job. I moved to Oslo (Norway) and lived and worked there for sometime.
Then suddenly in 2008 I started to hear music in my head again, and I felt the need to write again. So I quit my job that I had and moved back to Sweden. Bought a house and built myself a studio and started to record some tracks. I recorded a bunch of tracks and I was so pleased with them that I called up Christer from Tad Morose and asked him to come over and listen to them. He really liked what he heard and so we started to talk about putting a band together. So he called up and asked Peter (Tad Morose) and Tommi (Tad Morose) if they would like to be involved as a drummer and bass player and they said yes. Since we all live in the same town, the obvious choice for a singer was Charles so we asked him if he wanted to come over and try out some songs and he came and just blew the walls down. His voice was so perfect for the Inmoria sound and then, the line up was complete.

DarkScene: How long have you been working on the project? When did you feel that the time was right for you to musically start from scratch one more time?

Dan Eriksson: Well, as I said earlier it all started back in 2008 and I have been basically been working on it since then. But then it was more like a project just for me to get some stuff out of my head. And when things really started to happen for us I immediately started to write more tracks just in case some company would like it. So when Massacre Records contacted us in December -08 I basically had the whole album pre-recorded then it was time for the rest of the guys to put their personal feeling into it and that took about two months and then we used one more month for the vocals then it was finished.

I felt like starting a band from scratch when we first were contacted by Massacre Records. Then I realized that this could really be something great and now it has turned out just awesome.

DarkScene: The songs on "Invisible Wounds" were mostly composed by you and were probably completely done before you hired the rest of the band. Is this correct?

Dan Eriksson: I had about six tracks ready when I called up the rest of the guys so they could come and do their parts. Then I uploaded them on our myspace and the reaction was amazing from people everywhere so I immediately started to write some more tracks so that we could have a complete album ready if any company would show their interest, and they did.

@C

DarkScene: How did you pick the other members for Inmoria? There are a whole bunch of familiar names from the Tad Morose days involved. Please comment on that!

Dan Eriksson: Well I wanted people that I could count on and people with a lot of experience. There are a lot of talented musicians here in Bollnäs and I could probably have asked anybody to join Inmoria, but I didn’t want members that I didn’t know….I wanted old-time friends. So what a better way then to ask the guys from Tad Morose and Morgana Lefay.

DarkScene: Listening to the album it almost seems like you had the unique voice of Charles Rytkönen in mind while writing the songs. The two of you have known each other for a long time. Why did you pick him to be the singer for Inmoria?

Dan Eriksson: Now when I listen to the songs it almost feels like I have written them with Charles voice in mind because his voice is so perfect for the music. But the truth is that I didn’t have any singer in mind when I wrote the album. But when we started talking about who would best represent the “Inmoria sound” and give it the extra power, the only choice was to ask Charles.
Yes we have known eachother for a long long time and Charles wasn’t doing anything special at the time so I just asked him to come over to my studio and tryout some tracks. He just said: “ Right man…..I’ll be there in five minutes, just put the coffee on”, haha!! And he came and just blew the fucking walls down. It feels so god damn good to have him in the band. His experience, his voice and his personality on stage is just so awesome so there is probably no other singer that could fit in this band other than Charles.

DarkScene: If I would call Inmoria a dark and straight power metal mixture of Tad Morose and Morgana Lefay with slight influences of Evergrey and Nightwish would you find that appropriate?

Dan Eriksson: Hmmmm……I don’t really know actually but if you think that we have some Evergrey and Nightwish influences, then I feel honored since I really love those two bands. I can’t really put my finger on what kind of “metal” we play but I have to trust all those reporters and media people that call our music “Dark Power Metal”…….and, I can live with that, haha!!!

DarkScene: "Invisible Wounds" is basically power metal but you´re also incorporating some modern influences. What are your recent influences musically?

Dan Eriksson: To be honest I do not have any special influences when I write music. I just right what comes from my inside and my personal life and my dark thoughts. So I can’t say that I try to write music in a special direction and to try to sound like some other band. It is just my own weird personality that brings me the most influences.

DarkScene: Who are your musical heroes? Who inspired you creatively? Do you like any of the younger bands and musicians?

Dan Eriksson: Nowadays my all time favorite musicians are Toumas Holopainen from Nightwish and Janne Wirman from Children of Bodom. But they don’t really inspire me musically….I just love what they do in their bands.

Well right now I am listen a lot to a band from Gothenburg called Dead By April. They are so fucking great and they have a perfect balance between some real hard stuff, including growling and trance/goa-sounds and some really melodic stuff.

DarkScene: Back to "Invisible Wounds". On one hand the album is extremely straight and heavy, on the other hand it is also very dark sounding including the lyrics. Was that intentional or did you try to reflect on your personal situation and/or society in general or does it stem from something completely different?

Dan Eriksson: It is just the way that I write and compose. It was the same when I wrote for Tad Morose, so it has always been like that. Dark and depressing so it just the way that I am. But I sometimes write from society’s point of view, with all the increasing numbers of suicide amongst younger people. Here in Sweden the second largest deadly disease is suicide and that tells me a lot about how people feel nowadays with the high expectations that society sets up. You have to look good, you have to have a top job and you must have the perfect life and I also have read that young girls at the age of eleven starve themselves just to have the perfect “model body” and that really makes me sick!!!!! So yes, sometimes I get my inspiration from our fucked up society.

DarkScene: Tell us something about the lyrics. Which ones do you personally favor the most?

Dan Eriksson: All the lyrics are about the darkness that dwels deep inside all of us, but there are only a few of us that accepts it. When I write lyrics (and it is the same with the music) I fall into some kind of weird trance. I see a “story” that takes place within my head and I write down what I see. I am a very weird person so it is not so hard to write depressing lyrics. The biggest influence is my own life and my own personality. So you see, if Sigmund Freud where alive I would be his only patient….haha!!

I really don´t have any favorite amongst the lyrics but if I have to pick one I must say "Come Insanity" because that was the first song, and lyric, that I wrote when I moved back to Sweden.

@C

DarkScene: Although you´ve been a creative force in Tad Morose, it feels like Inmoria
is a much more personal project for you. Am I right?

In a way that is true because in Inmoria I do everything and the lyrics are more personal than those of Tad Morose. So I can say that Inmoria is some kind of my own personal and invisible psychiatrist. Inmoria is a “tunnel” for me to get the darkness and voices out of my head. I do go to a real psychiatrist for my thoughts but that costs me a lot more by the hour than Inmoria…haha!!!

DS: Despite the dominating keys on "Invisible Wounds" the album sounds very heavy and with a lot of pressure. You totally excluded progressive parts and any kind of solos in the songwriting. Has this been an intentional choice or did that just evolve naturally?

Dan Eriksson: From the beginning Inmoria was meant to be like a “Rammstein-project” and basically all the guitar riffs are written in that kind of music atmosphere. But then I started to add some melodic parts and then the “Rammstein feeling” was gone. I didn’t decide to exclude solos and stuff it just happen. We got one solo part in "Circle of Memories" where Christer and I have a little short battle, haha!!

We just want the music to keep on pumping….keep the riffs coming and don’t slow down. It may seem like a little monotone but what the hell that is the “Inmoria sound”. Maybe we will do some small changes for the next album and have some more solos but we will see what happens.

DarkScene: What´s next for Inmoria? Is this a one of project or will it develop into a “real” band with everything that comes along with that? Considering that all of you probably have normal day jobs not an easy decision, I guess?

Dan Eriksson: Inmoria is really a band now and not a project anymore. And as I said earlier that from the beginning it was just meant to be a project, just for me to get some shit out of my head. But now that the response has been so great from both fans and press we are now a fucking band.

What’s next…hmmm, well we really want to take our music out on the road and give all of our fans a chance to see us live.

DarkScene: Are you content with the press reactions for "Invisible Wounds"?

Dan Eriksson: Oh man it almost makes me want to cry when I read all the reviews and we all feel really honored. I have always said that I don’t give a shit about reviews but this time I was so wrong. Everyday I “Google” for something new about Inmoria and I am so proud of what we have done and all the reviews so far has been amazing and it feels so good. And hopefully the masses around the world will agree. Just go to our website or our Myspace and check out some of the review banners that we have received so far, there you have it in black and white.

DarkScene: A few months ago I was convinced that the new Candlemass record would be my album of the year 2009. Now, thanks to "Invisible Wounds" I´m not so sure anymore. A lot of people I talk to already consider your debut album as album of the year. How does that make you feel?

Dan Eriksson: Wow, if that is the case I will bow my head in real gratitude and maybe I will shed a little tear because it makes me so enormously proud of what we have achieved in such a short time. And since everything is so personal for me with the music and with the lyrics I will never stop thanking you!

DarkScene: Any touring plans?

Dan Eriksson: To tour is what we really really want do right now and to take our music out to the masses who have been so supporting to us. We have now joined forces with Dragon Production from Germany, who is a Concert and Promotion company and hopefully they will hook us up on something cool.

DarkScene: You did a video for "Come Insanity". A clever move. Was it the decision of the band to do a video or did the record company insist on it? Will there be another one?

Dan Eriksson: We did the video for "Come Insanity" before we got our record deal. So that was our own decision and we did it by ourselves and with a minimum budget. Yes, we are actually going to do a new video, hopefully within a month, and that is going to be on a new song called "In My Dreams" and we now have people working and writing on a real sad story that will be the main theme of the video.

DarkScene: Do you think Inmoria will be able to co-exist next to Tad Morose and Morgana Lefay?

Dan Eriksson: Yes off course, we have talked about this many times and there are no problems that every band can co-exist next to eachother. And since Morgana Lefay has taken a long “holiday” we have one less and to “worry” about, haha!!

DarkScene: Will there be another album?

Dan Eriksson: Well I have now written about twenty new tracks and ideas for a new album and all I have to do is to finish them, haha!! And I can promise you that the next album will be darker and heavier than "Invisible Wounds" so hopefully our label will release it later on.

DarkScene: What are your Top 5 all time favorites? (artist/record)

Dan Eriksson: Queensryche - "Operation Mindcrime"
Savatage - "Gutter Ballet" and "Edge of Thorns"
The Prodigy - "Music for the jilted Generation" and "The Fat of the Land"
Rob Zombie - "Hellbilly Deluxe"
Danger Danger - "Danger Danger"

DarkScene: What are your Top 5 of 2008/09? (artist/record)

Dan Eriksson: Fuck, I only have one…..haha!!!
Dead By April"Dead By April"

DarkScene: Favorite song at the moment?

Dan Eriksson: Well the song that is right now constantly running in my Mp3-player is "Bye Bye Beautiful" with Nightwish.
